South East Forestry is run by Jon Davies and Dave Holmes. Their approach starts with the woodland itself — managed correctly, with selective felling and thinning, a wood becomes healthier, more productive and more biodiverse. The timber that comes out of that process is the result of doing things right. And because a tree takes a century to grow, we believe you should use as much of it as possible.

The work is done by our own team using our own modern machinery and Class 1 HGV transport. No subcontractors, no middlemen — one team responsible for the whole job, from first site visit through to revitalised woodland.

Because we also run our own sawmill in Hawkhurst — South East Oak Sawmills — your timber becomes planks, beams, sleepers and cladding used by builders and craftspeople across the South East. More of your woodland generates real value, and less of it goes to waste.

Our team are all from the local area, and the timber they produce stays in Britain. Managed woodland becomes healthier woodland — and every load that leaves site goes to British builders and craftspeople rather than overseas markets.

South East Oak Sawmills.

South East Oak Sawmills is our own processing facility in Hawkhurst. We invested in it because most sawmills recover only a fraction of what a tree can yield - ethically that's wrong. Building our own means we recover far more, which means we can offer more for your timber.
